About Gravel Compass
Adventure motorcycle riding, cinematic filming, and a genuine obsession with finding roads most riders never know exist.

Why Gravel Compass Exists
Gravel Compass started with a simple frustration — most ADV content is either a shaky helmet-cam log or a polished production that forgot it was supposed to be about riding.
I wanted something in between. Real rides, real roads, real gear — filmed properly.
Based in Cape Town, I ride and film across the Western Cape and beyond — the passes, the gravel, the routes that don’t appear on standard touring maps.
No sponsored opinions. No spec-sheet recitals. Just honest takes on what works in South African conditions.

The Passes
Swartberg, Bainskloof, Du Toits, Franschhoek — ridden and filmed with detailed route notes for each.
Cederberg
Remote gravel loops, Algeria campsite routes, and the full Nieuwoudt Pass network.
Karoo Edge
Tankwa, Gannaga, Sutherland roads. Vast, quiet, and technically interesting on any ADV bike.
Garden Route Gravel
The dirt running parallel to the N2 — farm roads, forestry tracks, and coastal gravel connectors.
